  • c303.  Laura
Correct Laura from 1944. Once viewed the clock's important role in the film isn't easily forgotten. Vincent Price in the cast of Laura had me thinking that you would probably know this one Ves.

It certainly is Cape Fear, and I am thinking that you were referring to the original superior 1962 version as well.

In my opinion Robert Mitchum was in this version far more chilling that Robert De Niro was in the 1991  Martin Scorsese remake, when playing the same role. Anyone agree?

  • Lawrence, they were VERY different movies. Of course, old fogies like me prefer the original, but I do see merits to the remake.

Speaking of remakes, why did the makers of the new Magnificent Seven bother to buy the rights to the original when they threw away 99% of the script, and even junked the "magnificent" musical score? Why bother remaking something if you don't follow the original hardly at all?

Yes indeed the remake was  a good film but it lacked, to me anyway, the gripping suspense that the original version had. And as previously mentioned Robert Mitchum's portrayal was far more chilling than De Niro's was, Who can also  forget Mitchum's terrifying portrayal of a religious fanatic in The Night Of The Hunter from 1955..
  • C304 - Arrival (2016)
    Correct.

  •  C306    C307
A couple of different genre film titles, that were, released many decades apart, to be solved here,

The clue is making m think A Night to Remember (or possible the old Titanic) but the image doesn't fit.

Good thinking, but not on the right track,

Think World War 11 and a big star being involved.
  • My very first thought was Humphrey Bogart, but the category is "classic movies", so again, you and I may be differing on whether this movie is a "classic" (and of course everyone is entitled to their opinion)!

Firstly it is a Bogart movie.
The film in question to be answered is called by many sources as being a classic. Does screening on Turner Classic Movies count?

If I was to include what are probably absolutely undisputed classic movie titles, I would quickly run out of entries here.

Like to know the film you have in mind though.
