I am thinking that from my clue that you may have been thinking Clint Eastwood. It isn't Clint and you will need to go back a lot earlier to work out the actor. Good luck.
For image C249 I had previously mentioned that I had given my final clue.
As I would really like someone to answer this one, I have decided to provide two more clues in the hope that it may result in an answer being found.
The clues are that the film had many screen legends, as well as the lead actor appearing in it, and the director had a successful association with Clint Eastwood over many years.
It would certainly appear that the image for C249 has everyone stumped.
I had thought that my clues may have assisted in finding the answer, but this was not to be the case.
The answer I will now reveal to be The Shootist from 1976. The association I had mentioned was the professional one between director Don Siegel and John Wayne.
Thanks also for your response Jayn.j. It was received time wise out of order, and after I had acknowledged Rick's answer, hence the repeat of the lobby card image.
This now just leaves C253 unanswered, A further clue is another unusual setting features a great scene in the movie.
C255 is The Night of the Hunter (1955). Great film.
Correct. The Night Of The Hunter was originally banned in Australia. When the film was initially released in the U.S.A. it was not well received by the critics, or at the box office.
Today it is now considered by many to be a masterpiece. I agree with Peter that it is a great film. A pity that Charles Laughton never directed another film.

A final clue for the above image C249 is that the shotgun wielding male is pointing it at a character portrayed in the film by a forum favourite.

Clue for C254 is that the film itself has been included here previously.

I am hoping that these three images should visually provide enough for one to work with.
The first film entry C255 once viewed is not easily forgotten.
