463: Searching a lot. The closest I have come is a publicity shot of Lana Turner for Green Dolphin Street. Matches the clues. The image I found matches the pose, the hands and the dress, but the background is totally different. Also, GDS is a period piece and the dress is not right for the period.
The 463 answer is indeed Lana Turner, so well done. The eBay image though isn't a publicity shot from Green Dolphin Street, but is scene from the film Marriage is A Private Affair from 1944.
