Very nice outcome for that one and several others.
My overall feeling though was that results were just a bit soft. It might just be that musicals are out of favor now, but the two items I won went well below my proxy bid. I dropped out on others, mostly for total budget reasons, but I thought they went for below my estimate as well.
I clearly see some changing tastes as to what is and is not popular. If you are a contrarian, then those not popular titles may represent incredible buys. Or maybe some will go lower still.
I don't mind if you post the ones you thought "went low", so please go ahead (if it doesn't break any rules).
If a poster went low, it means someone absolutely got a good (or great) deal, because these posters really have no reserve, and all really sell to the highest bidder.

A no win situation for the auctioneer surely - low is great for the buyer no so for the consignor.

Maybe. In my case, both of my items were lobby cards that never come up for auction. One was a Gay Divorcee (Astaire and Rogers first starring role) scene card in VG-F condition. It was at $60 forever and closed for $170. My proxy on it was based on other scene cards of the title have sold for and was well over $300. Bruce had only listed 2 scene cards in his history, and the same for heritage. All were in lesser condition, and they all had closed for over $300. I will post an image in my musical thread tonight.
The other was for a Rin-Tin-Tin silent "The Lighthouse by the Sea" that closed under $100.
I was late for a work meeting (yep, I still work for a living) and didn't make my main point. Both of these cards likely came from collectors that owned them for a long time. They likely made a profit, just not as much as they might have made 5 years ago.
OK ordinarily I have no love for daybills but these are terrific:
The same printer's credits that have been added to the above daybill posters ( appearing on both, but missing off the image appearing just above ), that are up for auction at Heritage in the near future, are they accurate or not ? Some thoughts perhaps before I put in my two cents worth.

Are you suggesting the reproduction of the printer's name is incorrect?

You'd pay for someone to sneak into the home of the person who owns the posters and get them to destroy those butt ugly picture frames?

Tried to compare to some of the daybills I have today, but I re-arranged my images so well a while ago, I can't find them!
Found em this arvo but ran out of time to compare...
Slowly but surely all these 'missing' daybills seem to be turning up over the last couple years...exciting times
