The images I used are from Mr Smith Goes to Washington and Rear Window. Stewart is that rare person who hardly had any "down time" in the midst of an amazing career!

True! His career was one of few mis-steps & major accomplishments! Later half more gritty, especially his Westerns!

I've read several places that when Stewart returned from WWII-he returned changed-he was looking for more challenging/serious/dramatic roles-very much reflected in the more hardened nature of some of his characters. He no longer played in musicals or comedy's-a few in the 60s though.

Although this could have just been how film themes were changing. Noir coming into popularity post WWII...

I went to more modern actors this past week, and in almost all cases the younger ones trounced the older ones.

I can't do "actresses", because the younger one would ALWAYS destroy the older one, so do any of you here have suggestions of actors I have not done yet that had long enough distinguished careers to make them worth doing? If so, post them, because otherwise I will move on to another topic on Monday!
