A press book for either the 1938 release or 1949 release might be the best way to provide the evidence needed. Have you checked with NFSA to see if they have anything?
No I haven't contacted the NFSA as their material in mainly on Australian films but its worth a try I suppose. I'll add it to my list of people, companies, etc. to contact. Yes either pressbook would be ideal but the chances of this happening are remote I feel but you never know.

No one is putting you under pressure, everybody wants to know, one way or another. That said, you did raise it and no one says you are wrong, just not right at this stage! So I guess it is on you to prove it or admit that it is probable that the poster is what it claims to be.
I think there you are relying on a lot of tenuous links of possibilities and similarities without showing actual proof. Perhaps as others have mentioned, that the only way is to find a pressbook from 1938 or perhaps find an image of the movie poster outside a picture theatre at the time (or similar).

I have searched for this image but nothing appears so I assume it wasn't titled at the time it was posted. Would you please advise me where I can find the image now on the forum?

I will make a point about Bruce contacting customers if posters are found to be re-releases and not original releases. Due to the fact I have informed Matt at eMovieposters on lots of corrections of release dates on posters some good news in this area is in some cases I have informed Matt of posters credited as being re-releases where in fact the posters were original. At least a few happy buyers I would think when they were informed that had an upgrade..

If any large auction house had to give a refund for a very expensive poster a couple of years after the sale, I wonder how that would affect the consignor.

The WB logo in particular, is exactly the same logo as on the Robin Hood 3 sheet.
As Stage Fright is from 1950 then I would think this weighs heavily in favour of my opinion that The Adventures Of Robin Hood 3 sheet is from 1949 and not 1938. Again stating from research on hundreds and hundreds of posters the style of the Warner Bros. and the Victory Publicity logos were from what was being used on film posters in 1949 and not in 1938.
Barricade from 1950. Just to make a point about the Warner Bros. logos. Notice on the Barricade Australian daybill printed By F. Cunninghame & Co and produced by the Southern Studios the logo it just has Warner Bros. appearing across the centre of the shield but on the Victory Publicity one sheet the Warner Bros. Pictures Inc. wording appears. From my extensive research the Warner Bros. Pictures Inc. style appears to be used exclusively by Victory Publicity around this period which includes when I believe The Adventires Of Robin Hood along with The Sea Hawk were re-released.
