To be honest it was a close call, although Ryan is visually a masterpiece, Clint's idea to shoot two movies (letters from iwo jima) showing simultaneous perspectives of the same battle was quite an achievement to say the least.

Poster wise, in all honesty they were both very underwhelming in comparison to the Longest Day or Sands of Iwo Jima. However i get that the posters were going for a more personal approach.
  • I’ll never forget the blood rush I got the first time I watch the beach landing scene.  It was almost overwhelming.

Especially in surround sound.  Yeah I agree!
  • I've watched that movie more than Flags.
  • I must admit, haven't seen Flags, nor really care for the poster (although the original photograph in B&W is amazing).

Really like Ryan. Great movie-so well acted by all; thoughtful ending re: Hanks.... yeah, beach landing scene was intense, too much for many vets who saw it....

  • All I remember about Flags was buying one thinking I was getting a mint poster only to find scotch tape - for some reason I am thinking I got it from Mel...
  • Snicker?
