M.A.P.S. Litho Pty Ltd
M.A.P.S. Litho Pty Ltd. or Mailing and Print Services, was an Australian printing company located in Sydney. It was started in 1967 by David Seton - the son of Poster artist Babs McDougall, who worked for Robert Burton of Burton Printers. The company was deregistered in 2009, however their movie poster printing output had ceased by the late '80s.
I spent a few hours with someone who worked there in its heyday, here's some snippets of info:
- A standard print run of Australian One Sheets was around 300.
- A standard print run of Australian Daybills was around 1500.
- It was very rare they would need to do a second run.
- We call it a Lobby Poster or Photo Sheet, they (M.A.P.S.) actually called an 11 x 14 One Sheet.
- They only occasionally printed the 11 x 14 One Sheets as often there was simply not the room in the cinemas for them
- The print run for the 11 x 14 One Sheets would have been around 300, similar to One Sheets as it was not economical to set up the press for much less
- The NZ version of the poster would be included in the Australian print run eg print 1500 Daybill (incl 300 NZ); print 300 One Sheets (incl 80 NZ) which probably meant a minor plate change for ratings. All printed matter was delivered to Distributors in Sydney and then they despatched wherever.

The people I have come across who worked in the industry have usually referred to them as photo sheets.....
