  • Is 238 Flight To Mars 1951?
It certainly is, and well done.

A clue for both 238 and 239 is same destination,
We now know that the 238 destination was Mars. This now must certainly assist in  narrowing down the remaining possibilities for 239
  • For 238 Mars is a great clue. Once revealed you will see why.
  • I've seen that image before, but not sure I've seen the film.

    Peter
  • I've seen that image before, but not sure I've seen the film.
Yes that could be the case as this film is much more recent one than those usually added on to this quiz.
  • A final clue fir 238 is shouldn't be impossible.
  • Google tells me Mission to Mars when I search for "images of martians from movies"

    Martians Missiontomars
  • Google tells me Mission to Mars when I search for "images of martians from movies"
Correct answer for 238. Some good investigating done here. Mission To Mars from 2000. Is it just me thinking that the alien looks as if it should be one from a 1950's sci-fi movie. and not one from 2000.

  •  240  241
One very well known film, and a lesser known one to ponder.
  • 241 must be the lesser known one - Dark Star (1974) - very recognisable shot to me.

Yes it is the answer. You do know your sci-fi films, so well recognised. This film is certainly the lesser known of the two films.

  • 240 just seems too obvious

Am I missing something?  Star Wars: A New Hope

Correct and the original released Star Wars from 1977.  I do try to encourage some new participants to contribute here with as you mentioned an obvious image every once in a while.

  •  242 243
Seeing the previous two image proved to be easily identified and answered quicky, how about these two new images then?
  • I know what 243 is, but I'll give someone else a go. And I know what you're up to!

    Peter
  • I know what 243 is, but I'll give someone else a go. And I know what you're up to!
    Mum's the word then.
  • A clue for both 242 and 243 is a pioneer.

Can I have a go at 243? Or wait a bit?

Go ahead as it has been in play for two days without receiving an answer.
  • 243 is The Mysterious Island (1929). An early 2 colour technicolor film (hence my interest). An almost complete colour version was found a few years ago in a Czech archive - but no word on whether it's being restored. The B/W version is available on DVD.

Correct. I had thought that this one would have been difficult to answer, so well done in knowing it. It is based on the book by Jules Verne. Various black and white versions in varying quality, and a poorly colourised version of the film can be viewed on YouTube.

  • A clue for 242 is there is a strong connection to the already answered 243,
  • The 242 image I had thought would have been an easy one to have known, or at least having been able to have worked out the answer for it.
  • 242 is Mysterious Island (1961). Very sneaky of you!

    Peter

It is indeed the correct answer. I do try to be what I think is creative, from time to time.   :)

  • I thought Warlords of Atlantis but can't see a connection to any pioneer or 243.

Both films were adapted from the same Jules Verne novel, with Verne being the pioneer sci-fi author.
  •  242  243
The latest two images for you to ponder.
  • 242 looks familiar

    Peter
  • 242 is Forbidden Planet.  Obvious to me, at least.
