  • It sure is Sven, also the first black & white British war movie that I managed to persuade the mrs to watch. So it certainly helped to have her 'buy in'.
  • Nice mixture Charlie! Liking the Johnson/Taylor DB, and sultry Fonda!
  • Wil! Super congrats! Really liking Ice Cold in Alex! I’ve yet to see the movie, but very nice artwork & color!

Damn Busters ain’t too shabby either.... ;)

Cheers mate, both could do with a clean and backing ;) sure I've got an Orange Godfather DB in need of a wash somewhere :)
  • Very nice smattering of photos/stills, Charlie, and it's definitely not ice cold in cleavage-land! Great posters, Wil!
  • Tristana is way cool!

Ohh, the Dam Busters is super rare Wil!

Thanks Matt, I take it you've got the Aussie decal version? A strange 'girl in the spotlight' image in the right corner. Obviously from the stage show in the film and it helped them fix the altitude issue, but it still looks out of place.

its actually got a bit of damage, some tears and loads of light water staining. So it'll likely need a back before framing.
  • Yeah I have the Aussie. I rather like the spotlight girl, it makes the poster more unique.
  • This Jaws daybill arrived on my doorstep yesterday and was actually smaller than I thought it would be? Was this a specially produced Aussie daybill? Or something else? Certainly a strange title font.

  • I also had a chance to pick up an Aussie 3 sheet for Ice Cold In Alex, I have zero willpower I tell you!! :s , also extremely lucky the Mrs is away!  =)

  • Never seen the 3 sheet, you must of been pretty happy to get that. Congrats!

You're not wrong Matt, I saw it before I managed to track down the UK one sheet. But thought what the heck and took a punt on it anyway.

The lower third is a slight miss match (colours and alignment), but I'm ok with that. There's also some paper loss to the folds of that section and the left border has yellow print run all over it. But still a very nice John Mills piece to have.

The portaits of John and Sylvia are ever so slightly different from the UK version, with the Quayle and Andrews ones being a bit rough, more so Andrews stubble now looking like a deformed goatee.
  • I wouldn't call the Jaws poster a daybill, it's a lot smaller than a daybill. maybe it should have been called a `special poster'or similar. I have it and have seen it sell from time to time. It's pretty rare and doesn't come up[ for sale as often as the daybill.

    @collectaholic

Nice new acquisitions, Wil! Jaws font & design unique & cool! Ice Cold really nice as well! What’s a little ink smudge transfer among paper.... ;) hardly noticeable!

    * Just noticed the Quint tagline- ....for him, a bloody vendetta....
  • Here's a couple of late month entries for me.

Gabriela (1950, but released in the US in '56) insert. Not exciting art-wise, but goes along with the collection of "if you want to make a female look tough or morally challenged on a movie poster, have a cigarette dangle from their mouth" posters:

    gabriela insert

Secondly and lastly for now, one that is certainly better visually than Gabriela, but also fits well in my particular geographic area, Mountain Moonlight from 1941:

    mountain moonlight 1 sheet

I also added both of these images to the IMDB. The last time I tried, it would seem regular folk couldn't add images, but now I just had to log in to IMDB to do it.

     :)  :)
  • Very nice Rock! Mountain Moonlight is nice artwork!

A really cool poster that I don't think I have seen before, but where are the Weaver Brothers and Elviry? :)

  • It's a pity Elviry, Mistress of the Dyrk never caught on.  Before its time, I suppose...

Great poster, rock.  Pretty sure it'll be a big hit with the locals.
  • Well done Rock! Very nice  :)
  • Thanks, as always, for the complimentary words, guys.

Bruce, it appears that they make an appearance on the insert:
    mountain moonlight insert

It must be that the studios had a policy of making one or maybe two great posters for any particular film, but the same policy said that the rest of the advertising had to be crap. Using Mountain Moonlight as an example, what a difference between the insert and 1 sheet. That's not to claim that the MM 1 sheet is "great", because that's subjective, but y'all (I'm catching on to the local lingety) get the point.

Peter, believe you me when I say I'll kindly pass on inviting any of the locals to view this or any of the other posters in the rock-o-mansion. It would be torches and pitchforks for me, I'm sure.

Already got a spot singled out for this 1960 early Brit sci-fi which just this moment arrived from John. Loving the UK material at the moment, more so if its potentially Tom Chantrell (correct me if I'm wrong, but sure this beauty has his style all over it). Cheers John, incredibly well packed and arrived in no time!

Hmmmm....what to say Rick, but huge congratulations on one of the nicest Daybills I’ve ever seen. That Spirit of St Louis is just fantastic!

    @Collectaholic very cool sci-fi Quad!
  • Nice haul on the daybills, Rick! I agree that Spirit of St Louis has the best art. Road Racers would be the one that appeals to my tastes.  :)

Nice swing (title card?) Lawrence. I've collected a good handful of "swing" titles for their connection to swing music. A quick glance at Google search results for that title suggests the swing there might be country music. I should probably go through the titles I have at some point and verify the connection to jazz.

Very nice quad, Wil! Well chosen!
  • Diverse range of  paper their Rick .very nice!
Well done Will on thr quad  :)
  • Wanted to find this in B2 but settled for B5 - Perfect Blue...

Went ahead and got a Lady Bird too...

  • Nice pick ups, Charlie. Cool photography/design!
  • I’m not convinced the Perfect Blue is a photo... It’s hard to tell but may be artwork or digital anime...
