  • All inspired by Matt's shenanigans, swapped out most last night:

    Upstairs to go now.

  • Terrific Ves.
  • As predicted, SPEC-TAC-U-LAR! You're inching (centimetering?) the bar up for our resident Indiana Jones (although he's well north of Indiana). I can't compete with that. I just went and chucked all my posters in the cat's litter box. ;)

Wow! Fantastic Ves! Those 20s long Daybills look wonderful! As does everything else, Cary is splendid too! :)

Yes, unlike some people (Matt K - I'm talking to you) I appreciate my loverly Roman Holiday ;)

  • This poor little frame has had the same daybill in it for almost 12 years!  I've never been able to find another size poster to comfortably fit...finally, its time has come...RR for Freaks!  Going up on the wall in about 10 minutes!
  • Great choice! Every once in a while you just gotta get your Freak(s) on!
  • The mrs is off visiting family, so yesterday after some errands, I was puttering around in the poster lair and married up some spare frames and leftover matting with a couple posters. I'm on the fence about the gold frame on this one, but I think it goes well enough with the green matting that I'll leave it. Here was the frame and art as purchased:

And after being re-matted and Belgian-ized. A Belgian Highway Dragnet:

Sorry about my arms in that pic. Trying to get a pic of these frames without glare from lights or my reflection showing up is a pain. I've had a bit of luck with a selfie stick, but getting decent pics is challenging. Anyhow, I've had this lobby for ages, but I managed to score a cheapo frame yesterday while running errands that was just the right size. Aventura en Rio Mexican lobby card (I'd love to have the 1 sheet for this!):

And lastly, the only reason I'm mentioning this one (aside from all of us liking to see stuff framed) is that it was my first real attempt at cutting glass. I had bought a couple metal frame section kits like we're all familiar with (14 & 36), but I needed glass. The mrs' middle son, who has since moved out, had a couple 24x36 posters in his room (which is now the poster lair), and managed to destroy the frames on both. However, the glass is undamaged on both, so I decided to try harvesting the necessary 14x36 piece from that. A couple youtube videos and some cringing trepidation later, I was successful. No busted glass all over the poster lair, and one more insert frame for the slowly growing bad girl poster collection!

Speaking of, let me snap a quick pic of a wall in the poster lair. The lair hasn't been clean and organized enough to take pics of it's entirety yet, but I'll get there. There's a poster up in the lair that would be good pals with Charlie's Weird Science LeBrock, but we'll have to wait on that one. Here's my small wall of bad wimmins that was inspired by a pic/wall that Dario posted years ago:

That's it for now (forum breathes a collective sigh of relief), but I'm off to try and mat the Picture Show magazines from the 20's, so I very well may post the finished product if all goes well.

  • Okie dokie, here I am again. The border calculator app was of only marginal use here, as there were multiple openings and I had to use actual MATH! (eek!), but it turned out okay. While the 2 magazines on the right have yellowed more than the other, it's not nearly as pronounced as the pic. The single lighting fixture on the ceiling provides craptastic lighting for postering, and especially for pictures. Anyhoo, here's the UK Picture Show mags:

  • Fantastic Ves!
  • More nice ones Rock
  • Gorgeous posters Rock...but am loving the magazines!
  • Great eye candy all!

On my FB page, Hans Gustavsson posted these framed fab 5 Swedish posters at his abode:

PS Hanging out with fame-hungry freaks and geeks on various and sundry social media venue nowadays but will harass all y'all daybill worshippers occasionally too....  B)
  • @Rockabilly love the badgirl wall, and Heat Wave is downright sexy! Magazines  look great framed together.

Artwork on Swedish posters is so unique! Love it!
  • Thanks, Mark! Your kind words are always appreciated. I wish I had more space for more inserts. Too many bad girls and not enough walls! I do like the foreign posters. They’re a bit more challenging to frame though.

What's the poster to the right of Casablanca?
  • Some of this is going to go against the title of the thread, as there are some pics I'll post that are anything but recent. I successfully copied all my pictures back from uselessbucket, and there were a handful of pics of posters displayed in various houses over the years, so I figure they're all worth sharing. I'll only post a small amount at a time as not to hog the thread or distract from more relevant stuff. Anyhow:

I likes my posters big, and here's an Undercover Girl banner fairly recently hung up in the Rock-O-Mansion:

Also recent is a Three Bad Sisters half sheet and a Girls On The Loose lobby:

As you can see by the datestamp on the pic, this one goes back a few years. It's a vinyl banner released for the Psycho remake:

(totally unimportant footnote: that must've been the default year for the camera setting, as this would've been 2010 methinks)

One of my holy grails, partly because it's a poor man's Gun Crazy, and really just because it's a great bad girl image - One Girl's Confession insert:

And lastly for now, a smattering of emotionally unpredictable youth:

naked youth - beauty cave -teenage bad girl -teenage wolf pack 1 sheets - runaway daughters - young and dangerous inserts framed

  • Again, great framing diversity! "Sisters..." & "Cofessions...." are standouts!
  • Good morning, and happy weekend, VMPF'ers! Since things are kinda slow in this thread, I'll drop a few more pics of poster walls from current to years and houses past:

This one was up in the rock-o-mansion pretty recently (but got swapped out for the 3 bad sisters half sheet):

This one was from a house we rented for the 6 months or so we lived in Lincoln City, OR:

A few snaps of another rental, this time in Sterling, MI:

(bride of the monster and gun crazy are both repros, sadly)

A few more swapped out on the same walls:

    livingroom3march
And lastly for now, same walls, yet again a different batch of posters:
    livingroom2
    :)

  • livingroom3march

What's this one above the hallway????
  • Here's a different snap of it at a better angle. Let's see if it's more clear:

  • Oh yes.  Loverly.  Like it alot!

And the gun Crazy isn't too bad either!
  • Sorry for the crappy pic here. As mentioned, the GC 1 sheet is a cheep repro. This is the only original paper I have on it, and thankfully it's different than the US art and pretty cool. I'll keep my eyes out for obtainable original posters, but I'm not gonna hold my breath!

  • Fantastic stuff, Rock! Really like the variety of size & genre. Had to look up Allotment Wives-Jay Francis final film in '45! She was a good actress!

Four Girls -3 sheet?- is impressive!

....and Lincoln City, OR?! Can only image how beautiful it must have been to live so close to the coast!

  • Thanks, man. A lot of those posters have since been sold. Four Girls, T-Bird Gang, Raiders in the Sky (gave as a gift), Fashion Model, Allotment Wives and the Rock, Rock, Rock 2/3 of a 3 sheet (I wish I still had that one).
Yeah, Lincoln City was just a tiny little burg dotted along the coast. We were only 2 blocks from the beach, which was very pretty, but holy hell the water stays cold up there! It was great to travel along the Pacific Coast Highway. We never got super far north or south, but there's some great scenery up there!
  • Good gracious, does this Rock character ever quit?? Heck no! So many (poor quality) pictures, so little time! As promised, adorning the hallowed walls of the poster lair, a good friend of Charlie's LeBrock, miss jessica rabbit:
jessica rabbit in the poster lair
Here's a better pic from the ebay listing a while back:
    jessica rabbit poster

One of the corners of the poster lair. Still looks a little plain ( the flat file cabinet rolls underneath the picture show mags), but I don't want it to look TOO crowded:

    Poster lair corner

And a detail pic of the 1976 LA Film Expo poster:
76 LA film expo poster in the lair
As always, sorry for the craptastic photos. I really need better lighting in here!
  • Sweet!
  • That film expo poster is fantastic   me want one.
