  • Gosh, that Mitchum is UGLY!

But at least he looks like Mitchum... :)

    haha
  • Hi there. New to the site. I acquired some pretty interesting pieces recently. Anyone know or have knowledge of original movie poster art? Check 'em out!

  • I know original poster art is awesome. And those pieces you got certainly are. Congrats!!!
  • I am familiar with the chainsaw one, can't remember what film whas it for...
  • Two of the five appear to be drafts, but they are still pretty cool. I'd love to find the original Grand Prix poster art, it's a great one.
  • Superb! That Guns for Sebastian is great, colour and details, as is Grand Prix.
  • Oh yeah, Guns for San Sebastian is my favorite. I really like the action in Dark of the Sun, but it's not as polished. The only piece I'm not a big fan of is the Sebastian draft, but it has some charm.
  • Evening all, this weeks haul is now boxed up and currently on its 3 day road journey back home, having filled to the brim 47 boxes, I ended up having to squeeze what remained into my hand luggage, some pretty nice daybills, many not overly old, but some of the the minty'ist ones are definitely due an appointment with my backers followed swiftly by the framers.

That'll do for now, when the boxes arrive (and once I emerge from my storeroom and get to see daylight again) I may start a separate thread for photo updates.

  • Great cult posters there will!
  • Very nice Wil!

Thanks guys, to be honest this is the first time I've seen 2001 and Rocky 2 'in the flesh' as it were.

I asked this question to someone else a couple of years ago and have forgotten the answer I was given, what's the story or reasoning for having a blue Rocky printed?

Also 50:50 of the Jaws bills are missing the MAPs logo, I see that at least one of the examples that Bruce has sold was also missing it. so therefore take it this is nothing to be alarmed about?
  • Awesome stuff!
  • Great daybills, Wil! And in wonderful shape!

    Agreed!
  • So happy with this recent purchase! Nothing rare or expensive at all...but the artwork and colors knock you off your feet!  :)

    Make Haste To Live

    South Pacific

    Hers To Hold

Now South Pacific  is the only one of them that won't need any sort of major restoration, but they're awesome! At the time putting into restoring them will be well spent!

Nice. A little more paper loss on Make Haste To Live, than the image from the auction it came from shows.
  • Loving Make Haste!  I'm sure it will be a beauty when you are done with it!

Yeah i thought that at first! and it appears that way. Short story---a few small pieces were folded inward that I did not pull out -won't do that till it's get its wash and linenbacking.
I must say though, I paid $1.00 and I couldn't be happier! :) EMP rocks!

Thanks Ves! I hope i do right by it! =) I'm just a steward of these posters from the past...

That's where you're wrong Mark - it actually IS quite rare!  Since I do not have your restorative skills I passed on it...hope you make it look great
  • :o Does Helen get to see all these horror posters?
  • NO, I have to hide them in my room, though i do have a lounge display of horror titles coming up (with certain restrictions - Hills Have Eyes, Evil Dead and a few others were overruled)
  • I thought I'd finish off with the hand luggage contents before I start a new thread late next week for the freight content. Not the best images and a bit more of a mishmash that my last post in terms of subject and conditions.

Also, although tatty i thought it was nice to see the range of colours (and quality) of the Kelly's Heros bills.

Also just found some pretty nice B&W stills from 1954 Creature from the Black Lagoon, I may throw them up later.
