Return of the Jedi-White Title-One Sheet

edited January 2017 in Star Wars
As stated on EMP and on Starwarsmovieposter.com, the white title Return of the Jedi is a "rare" poster. Most Style B one sheets have a silver title. The white title was not used but several survived. A friend of mine gave it to me to separate----the backside bottom and top are stuck together with some sort of adhesive.

When I first looked at the poster I was surprised to see another movie poster printed on the backside!!! The 1982 movie poster Android is printed on the backside.

My question---why would a studio take an already printed movie poster to run test prints? Any info any members or other have would be appreciated.

Thnaks.

  • I dunno...but what is with the banana?
  • Thank you Ves, for such depth in your response... ;)
the banana? Not sure...my friend Jake did not have an answer either. I've got a team working on it as I type... =)
  • The banana threw me....sorry.
I've seen something similar with daybills, but what you have is quite odd!
Printers proofs usually have registration marks, so rules that out.

is it on thicker paper or normal paper you would expect for a one sheet?
  • Weird...
  • No worries Ves.  =)

Ive got very limited knowledge of poster printing, but have never heard or seen this before-does anyone know of any other examples of posters having another title printed on the backside?

Here is the link explaining the poster....

    @Lawrence? @Bruce? Thoughts... @David even?... ;)
  • I'm gonna tackle the taped/glued areas soon (soon as in the next week or two) and will post pictures of both sides when available.
  • @David even?
hahaha...first I need to watch the movie, any of them.
  • This is not all that unusual. We have auctioned some "test posters" that are printed on the back of others. I think it just means they had some rejected posters laying around and used them for an early test of a different poster.

Yeah. There not everyone's cup of tea. I was baptized as a young kid and have been a follower since---although episodes I-III are not that good-but help fill in story.

I wish I could! Now that my friend knows how rare it is...he's gonna hold on to it.
