Although here are some interesting facts about the movie:

That is indeed one of them. But it was the other that was talked about much more!

The hand ascending from beneath the water at the end perhaps ? There of course is the rape scene that you may be referring to but I wouldn't call it a ''best'' scene.
  • Deliverance disturbed me so not one i will watch again..kinda feel sick thinking about some of the scenes

    On reflection, you're probably right.

Saw this film at a screening on Monday night and then after the screening participated along with other members of the audience via Skype in a Q & A with the director Matthew Holmes. The film dealt with the latter part of Ben Hall's life, leading up to and including his killing. Made on a low budget, although it doesn't show, by a dedicated director and team the film is very well made and very entertaining and informative. Long in the planning stages leading up to the filming, the director is releasing the film in limited release, wherever he can secure playdates as the major chains weren't interested on a whole in screening it. For those who don't know, Ben Hall was a famous Australian bushranger. An interesting fact was that Ben Hall wasn't personally responsible for any deaths, although other members of his gang were. The three lead actors pictured above were cast as they looked very like the real life characters they portrayed in the film. Recommended.

  • Bloody brilliant.  Had no idea who he was as I am not really into that style of music, but found it fascinating.  Couldn't stop watching.

  • This is on the telly now.  Far out she is sensational, been too long since I have seen this one.

  • The Killing of Angel Street

Seems some things don't change.  Developers snapping up prime real estate and making it almost impossible for people whom have lived their whole life in one spot to stay...

    3 Days of Condor

My second attempt at this one, fell asleep the first time I watched it years ago.  At least this time I made it through...I was determined to!

This is one of hubby's favourite movies, and he constantly has a go at me for falling asleep in the past.

So much of nothing happening!  Nowhere near the tension it should have to hold you like Marathon Man.

It was ok, but I can't see myself watching this one again.

Had not even heard of this one!  Will have to see if I can get to a screening, as well as snag a poster!

Watched Ocean's 11 (1960) last night, can't remember if I have seen it before, if I have it was a very long time ago. I've not seen the Clooney version so I wasn't pre-disposed to have an opinion.

As much as I like these old actors, Rat Pack et al (Angie Dickinson was as cute as a button, skinny as a rake too) but gawd it was soooo slow...I gave up watching before the heist.

  • went with a different Clooney and watched White Christmas last night in honor of the season.

I had the same feeling.  I gave it a go, couldn't sustain my interest for the whole movie.  Left it on while came in and out of the room doing other things.  Next time it is on the telly will try again.

Like It's a Wonderful Life, I hand my head in shame in acknowledgment that I haven't seen White Christmas either :(

  • Let's see this weekend I was doing some Christmas prep - bought my kiddo a used Star Destroyer lego set and I took it apart and rebagged it for her - and managed to watch all these:

    Bourne Identity
    Bourne Supremacy
    Bourne Ultimatum
    Bourne Legacy
    Jason Bourne
(Bought the 5 set BluRay for $30)
    Conan the Barbarian
    47 Ronin
    There will be Blood
    The Shining
Imax Blue Planet (Narrated by Sig. Weaver)
    Divergent Allegiance
    First part of Patton

  • Oh There will be Blood.

I caught the middle of this on telly a while back and had to turn it off, because I missed the start and bits weren't making sense.  I was getting frustrated!  Will have to watch this properly.  Love Daniel Day Lewis...

Yeah once you've seen it you will be sitting somewhere and you will hear his voice (DDL) and the eerie music in your head and you will just have to go an watch it again.  I bet this happens to me at least twice a year.  The end is the best.

I think its a generational thing.  We are now so used to action films that the older stuff seems boring.
I see it with trying to get my kids to watch a Connery Bond film, or the original Italian Job.  These are excellent films, well crafted with good plot development, but my kids get bored easily and much prefer new stuff where something is always happening.

I have exactly the opposite reaction as I watch a modern Bond or other action flick and see a plot that struggles and fails to emerge from the constant explosions.  I can just see the director and writer going at it.

Writer; But this element is essential to the plot.  Without it, there is no purpose to the second half of the film.
Director: True, but we have to decide between the plot, and blowing up a train
Producers: Yeah!  Lets blow up a train.
  • Just watched There Will be Blood again - I think I enjoy it so much because I see a lot of myself in Plainview...
  • Born Yesterday (1950)

Seen it before so enjoyed it once again, a gorgeous Judy Holliday plays the dumb blonde with exquisite timing, she did of course win Oscar for Best Actress for the role, died well before her time.

Just finished watching the first episode of the three part television documentary series titled ''Tony Robinson's Wild West'', which includes never before seen 3D stereoscopic photographs. An informative and very entertaining, as well as sad at times part one, so I am looking forward to the two remaining parts. During a visit by Tony Robinson to the Custer Battlefield Museum at Garryowen in Montana, a poster of the '' Custer's Last Fight'' similar to the one pictured above is on display and can be seen very briefly.
  • I too enjoyed the first  episode lawrence.
  • Sea of Love (1989) late 80s Pacino cop drama/mystery...

Just watched the three episodes of the U. K. mini-series ''And Then There Were None'' ( 2015 ) in one sitting. An excellant production with a terrific cast, including Aidan Turner ( Poldark ), Tony Stephens ( Black Sails). Charles Dance, Sam Neill, Miranda Richardson, Anna Maxwell Martin ( always great ) and two Australians Maeve Dermody and the ever reliable Noah Taylor. Thoroughly recommended.

I have just come from a screening of La La Land. Does the film live up to all the hype it has been receiving? Firstly let me say straight up that to this point of time I wasn't a great fan of either Ryan Gosling or Emma Stone. This has now changed as both are terrific as is the movie, which is the favourite to win this year's Oscar for best film.. A must for fans of musicals and highly recommended. A word of warning though is that don't go along to seeing it believing it is going to be something in the lines of what you have seen previously.  If you don't like musicals to start off with, you well probably agree with my sister who didn't like it at all.
