Have retreated to my poster room/sanctuary after grilling to watch the Mens NCAA Basketball Championship Game. Always fun to watch. Screen is only 19", but it suffices.
Just watched episode one of series four of the British television series Father Brown. The episode was interesting as the plot was to do with the filming of a B grade horror film in 1950's Britain. One of the main guest stars in this episode was Jonathan Firth the younger brother of Colin Firth.
I dunno, I expected more, just ended up being another Tarantino movie in a similar style and violence as most of his others and whilst the violence wasn't the issue it just wasn't as good as say Inglorious Basterds.
The Revenant (2015)
So so movie, overly long, the bear should have killed DiCaprio and saved me a couple of hours. Can't agree with his wining of an Oscar for best actor, all he did was spend most of the movie acting in pain or grunting marginally whilst in pain.
I think he has matured to be an excellent actor and should have been rewarded for Blood Diamond, I guess this one was more about "he's paid his dues".
Deadpool (2016)
Some enjoyable deadpan jokes being delivered, somewhat a black comedy, but it bounced along at the same pace relying on the shock tactics of its one liners. I didn't make it to the end...
Grand Hotel (1932)
Seen this a couple of times, never been a fan of Crawford except in this picture (cute as a button) although my wife loves her in Mildred Pierce. So many great names, love seeing Garbo again, not her best picture but who cares.
Up (2009)
Nothing else on so watched this one again, probably the third or fourth time. Of course being a fan of animation what's not to like - one of the sadder starts to a Disney/Pixar movies you will see anywhere.
Thoroughly recommended for the discerning viewer. Warning - no sex, car chases & violence in the film. I don't remember any bad language in the film either. While I was viewing it I thought had I by some chance been transferred back in time to the 1950s.
Not a movie but went to check out the Scorsese exhibit at ACMI this week. Much better and more involved than I thought it would be. We didn't leave ourselves long enough to get all the way round!
Some really great photos, lots of letters, storyboards etc. The MONDO print for Taxi Driver even made an appearance!

"Change the channel for me son, grab me a beer while you're up too..."

Deadpool was surprisingly good, except the ending was a buzzkill.

But no, I haven't seen it...heard good things though.
