It certainly is, Did you then miss Dede's previous answer?

I liked Woody Allen's very early films Bananas and Sleeper when they were funny. On saying this though I really like some of his later films including Crimes And Misdemeanors (1989) and Midnight In Paris (2011) which were both recommended to me to view.  Something to admit though is i have never sought out many of his films to watch.
  •  C584  C585
    Your latest two challenges.
  • C585 is of course The Producers

Yes indeed, it is the original film version of The Producers from 1967. A very funny Mel Brooks film.

A clue for C584 is an Errol Flynn connection.
  • Is c584  My Favorite Year (1982)?

    Peter
  • Is c584  My Favorite Year (1982)?
Correct. My Errol Flynn clue appears to have done it's job. Peter O'Toole's character Alan Swann was based on Errol Flynn.

  • My Favourite Year is a lot of fun.

So I do believe. Why then haven't I ever seen it? That's something I need to rectify. Reading the film's plot and reviews it certainly is a film that I believe I would really enjoy.

Definitely check it out, it's a gem!

  •  C586
     C587
Two new challenges, with one image probably not what you think that the film's genre may be.
  • Oh yeah.  C586 is American Graffiti. That cop car is about to lose its rear axle.

Spot on. American Graffiti from 1973,

  • C587 is The Getaway. The good version! The movie is excellent, but the source novel is even better (and has the darkest ending of any book I ever read)!

Correct. The Getaway from 1972. The book's ending was apparently far too dark for the two film versions which both ended up having happy endings.,

  •  C588  C589
A challenge maybe? Not sure if this will be the case though.
  • 588 looks to be tough.  C589 is opening scene from Blue Velvet.  Beautiful images, seriously disturbing film.

C589 is indeed Blue Velvet  from 1986.

  • c588 complete stab in the dark...The Colour Purple?
  • c588 complete stab in the dark...The Colour Purple?
A great stab in the dark Ves, Well done, The Color Purple from 1985. A great film.

  •  C590  C 591
The latest selection to have a think about.
  • Is C591 Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)?

    Peter
  • edited April 2025
    C590 Grosse Pointe Blank

And let me just edit to say, I love that this is being considered a classic (many I am sure would disagree) - I love it, and we have it on rotation regularly at our place :)
  • Is C591 Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)?
It certainly is the correct answer.

Of course correct. Grosse Pointe Blank from 1997.

I am yet to catch up with it so I cannot on the film's merits. Perhaps if anyone else has viewed the film they may like to comment on what they think of the film.

  •  C592  C593
    How about these two then?

  • I think I know both so I'll hold off for a while.
