Crime in the Streets

Spotted a different version of this db on the weekend. From memory had similar art to the US 3sht.
When I looked closer this one is printed by Burton and I think would be a re-release. Needs a Lawrencing >>

Before I comment further may I see the image  of the other version of this title that you referred to ? As far As I am aware the above daybill is the only one that was printed in Australia when first released. here, using the U.S. insert image to copy from.

The poster I saw isn't mine (hopefully will be in near future), so I don't have an image to upload atm.
I don't think Burton is right for 1956 Paramount. Should be W.E.

Please let me see the image when you have it. In the meantime Crime In The Streets was an Allied Artist film acquired in a package of Allied Artists films that had been in limbo for a time when the rights that were in negotiation to be acquired from the then Australian distributor United Artists by RKO Radio. When RKO folded up operations in Australia in 1958, this didn't happen. It is then Paramount stepped in, and they acquired the Allied Artists Australian rights circa 1958. The Paramount current, future and back catalogue unreleased product, including product in some cases going back to 1955, was included in the deal. In 1958 Robert Burton started printing some of the Richardson Studio / Paramount  product as well as W.E.Smith, which included Allied Artists Crime in The Streets from 1956 and Quantrill's Raiders ( 1958 ). These two AA films along with the Paramount product Vertigo, The Black Orchid,The Geisha boy, King Creole, Rock - A - Bye Baby , The Matchmaker and St.Louis Blues were released in Australia in the second half of 1958 and the first half of 1959.

  • An image of the Crime In The Streets daybill. I have now identified that the film was released in  Sydney in May 1959. The above daybill was printed for this release.
