Backing Rolled Posters

What's the big deal with backing rolled posters? Why not!

I would of thought it would minimise the risk of putting creases in them. Thoughts?

  • Well there is no reason why not, I back to restore with the intent to frame I doubt I would solely back to protect, I'd rather slip them inside some Mylar sleeves - cheaper option
  • The real issue is backing (apparently) near mint rolled posters.  WHY?!
  • Of course Matt and his linen fetish are working towards a future where posters are just printed on linen in the first place...

So they stay near mint for longer!
  • Seems like u have too much money Matt..
  • Some rolled poster are in bad shape - you may just not be able to tell all the little dings etc. after backing so it looks mint.  However, I too don't see the point of backing mint posters.  Let them get dinged before you back them...  If you take care it shouldn't ever be an issue and you always have the option to back.  Backing to prevent damage it reverse thinking IMO.  Just wait until there is something to fix!
  • I do think if we're talking older posters, yes; But why would anyone back a double sided poster?

Because the single sided ones are rare?
  • Back what ever the hell you want its your poster not ours....but...I will laugh at you for backing a double sided poster.  :P

    Freedom!
  • Yep, I draw the line at double sided, even I'm not that stupid crazy.

You left it open, what did you expect.
  • Nothing less....if you didn't say something, I'd be worried.  :D
  • I have two DS big Lebowski posters that got damaged in shipping. They had repeating ding through one side. I do plan to back these and sell them at some point. Still waiting for Dario to show his vellum project and whether it worked.
