Reason For Some Missing Films.
From an Australian newspaper article from the 1930s.
''British Empire Films have the right of rejecting any productions not considered up to standard or suitable for Australia and by exercising this right except to top the list from 1934 with their British pictures ...''.
I am sure this policy applied to the other major distributors in Australia at that time right up to present day. Some very minor entries in the series of Bomba The Jungle Boy, The Bowery Boys, Chinook the wonder dog, Rex Allen b westerns and countless other b westerns from the 1940s and 1950s that were never imported into Australia spring to mind along to films of today that fail miserably at the overseas box office and go straight to DVD or television here in Australia.
