    Never used this ^ before.

  • And how apt given the recent discussion :(|)
  • Got a buzz out of it? :D
  • And Dave thinks I'm the comedian... :P
  • The jury is still out
  • Those are great too!

Any chance of getting a full run down of what was actually in the find?
  • David's drip feeding..
  • The problem (if it can be called a problem) is that possibly 50% of my collection are WE Smith posters!  Seems they had a near monopoly on Aussie paper at one point...

    Just some further quick examples:

  • Love that Spider!
  • David's drip feeding..
No. Just had a few OK Daybills to share in the printer threads (not from Under the Floorboards).

Not really a problem when they are as nice as those Chris; I have said it before they consistently produced the best 'noir' and moody posters during the 40s
  • Satellite/Sky is dynamite!
  • Satellite/Sky is dynamite!
I really don't think there is a better example on the title than the daybill (for once!)
  • Excellent examples there guys!

The insert is the same but the US OS 1/2S and 3SH are.....crap.

Had to look them all up but yep, agree.
  • Love I cover the underworld, I mean...smoking gun, femme fatale with a cigarette, a shoot out, colours that pop!

Spider is very cool, the US paper is also very nice on this title.

  • Satellite in the Sky is nice

Forgot about this WE Smith poster: Broken Melody (1935) - also now with the NFSA (donated):

  • That "under the floorboards" water-stained collection sure did have some great looking posters!... Just once I'd like to "find a big stack".... ;)

Nice one there David. With Mark on finding a big stack just one in my life! That can be a big stack of rare posters or a stack of money to buy rare posters [-O<
  • Big stack of money...boring. Big stack of rare posters found...exciting!
  • Fair enough Mark!
  • As I was sorting thru finding the monotones, thought I would snap some purty ones for you:

  • Always liked the Forever Amber...very purty.
  • Speaking with Greg Chilvers today he said he met a gent that worked for Smith for quite some time in the 50's and 60's. He said they printed one colour at a time then hung each poster to dry for a day or two then pulled each poster down to print the next colour. Each time they'd line up the cross hairs of the daybill in the printer to get each print run the same. They did print runs of 50,100 and 500. Fairly labour intensive!
  • Speaking of Greg, I haven't been down there for ages. Has he got any new gear Matt?
  • I took it all.....
