Is C509 Stagecoach (1966 version)?
-
I'm curious of the title too!
-
Great find.
-
I'm sure the lobby cards would have had a black snipe over the hanging skeleton, much like a lobby card from The Invisible Boy I once had that had the boy being held by Robby The Robot blacked out. I'll try to find an image of it but this was the un…

I must cut up my Man From Planet X daybill...just for laughs!

C504 - Shine (1996). I first thought of Man of Flowers too!
-
Well done! Fooled us all.
-
It's going to be a news report about serial killers within another movie showing a picture of John Wayne Gacy as an example of a serial killer, but it doesn't ring a bell. I thought of "Lambs" too but couldn't find an image with Gacy in it, also che…

Hmm, I still think it's a film about serial killers, but I'm stumped. I could keep guessing films but maybe I'm on the wrong track?
-
Syd Chaplin, (Charlie's half-brother), appeared in "A Submarine Pirate" (1915). Perhaps they got confused?
-
Last guess. Natural Born Killers (1994)?
-
Okay, Silence of the Lambs?
-
C501 is obviously John Wayne Gacy, but I don't know what film this clip appeared in. Is it Zodiac (2007)?
-
(Quote) Could have been worse, they might have thought it was a film about "Shy Anne"
-
Not an Australian release poster, and depends on how strictly you could call it a double feature, but there's this....

I was expecting someone to post this daybill that recently auctioned on eBay and has been posted on Facebook. It was posted by Michael Lovell, I hope it's okay to repost here. Fantastic find from 1911.

Please note that the list doesn't include drive ins, so who knows? I'll keep digging.
-
Neither of these films are listed in the database of films screened in Melbourne cinemas on the Cinemas and Theatres of Australia FB group.
Interestingly it's very easy to find double features by searching for the + symbol, might be ab easy wa… -
(Quote) I could have sworn it was Steve Martin in that shot!

C497 - White Heat 1949. That was the easy one!
-
I may go down that rabbit hole over the weekend, just sayin'
-
If someone wants to go down that rabbit hole there's lots of hits on Everyone's if you search for "double feature" and "double bill". Unknown where they would have printed double bill posters to just used two separate posters for each showing.

All I can add is that that was my poster I consigned to Bruce.
-
C494 - Johnny Guitar (1954)?
-
I'll email him now!
-
Now, not a question for Bruce, but an answer about who this is on the poster. It's not Boris Karloff as speculated but is actually Richard Neil who plays the prisoner. He doesn't get released from his cell until Chapter 9 so the artwork for Chapter …

(Quote) My thought is that perhaps whoever did the artwork reversed it without realising it was incorrect. It was 1939 so perhaps they weren't that familiar with what a swastika should look like.
Or could they have been work… -
Initially I was thinking C492 was Cabaret...but then I realised that C491 is Cabaret (1972), so I don't think it's both.
-
Thanks Bruce.

C489 - North by Northwest! How could I miss that? The crop duster sequence.
