I have a funny (bad) feeling who that may have been, especially if he was on Gumtree. -
Old Kirk's some actor holding her eye like that!

I would opt for the 30 inch versions on matt paper, where possible, Mark.Others are more suspect in this period around the early '80s.

Sometimes I wonder if they had two machines running at once, hence the same posters in different sizes. The Thing, Blue Brothers and Flying High are some more I thought of that appear in differing lengths.
16mm came out 6 - 18 months later …

Reasonably common to see two lengths between 1979 - 1981ish. Also same posters printed on matt & gloss paper. I am guessing, but there may have been a change or update in machinery around this time.
Titles with two lengths from orig rel…

(Quote) I included that one with you in mind!!
Old book published 1970. Has some posters all in b&w.
Apparently: "Australia can claim credit for producing the world's first full-length film and the first feature film."

I would like to say that this forum is proving really valuable in educating the field. Well done to D, M & C.
No individual will ever be able to amass all the knowledge on Australian movie posters, but collectively the hobby is moving …

Both identical credits at bottom. Both full colour printings.
I think there were two styles of daybill released.
I'm calling mine 'Style B' - unless anyone objects.

Have you got an image of the other version I can see?

Beneath the green triangle has FGE.
I presumed this was the original by W.E because I have never seen any other versions.
Perhaps they went with two styles, which are sometimes mentioned on press sheets. I have a lot from 1953, but no…

Picked this one up just recently. The green triangle is a piece of paper stuck over the original rating.

I offered him $1K for the lot which was generous. He was asking $3K. The backed posters were found under St James theatre, which I think was demolished. I've seen other early posters from the same cinema including GWTW.

About 5 years ago I bought two apple boxes full of folded daybills (roughly 1200) for $400.

I've seen the black daybill before.
Re-release here as well:
Vampira aka Old Dracula, Basket Case & Blood Diner.
Not at memorable as "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away ..." but still effective.
Could have been a sample poster printed for evaluation purposes?
I have a collection of all rolled Aust SW 1sheet posters including Style A&C, ESB & Jedi A&B. Some came direct from the warehouse manager for Fox / Columbia here i…
Pretty sure they were identical layout. The advance daybill has the rating, but not the "coming soon to your galaxy" tag, which was used in the US.
It's an interesting poster, but with no other copies seen hard to establish as Aussie.
What is Vic F's background?
The regular ESB one sheet had no printer's details.
No NRC box is the worry for me.
There are two versions in red & black ink. Pancho has both styles.Never seen that one.
Is it 27 x 40 & what is identifying it as Aussie?
