The Holy Grail for my collection would be to find a Young and Innocent daybill but nothing has surfaced over the years.

(Quote) Yes, those are my initial thoughts. The image doesn't look anything like Nova Pilbeam.

(Quote) I have collected quite a few Qantas posters over the years. The ones pictured in the earlier post are generally referred to as reissues/reprints. The posters were originally designed by Harry Rogers in the late 50s but the same designs were…

I'm not so sure about Date with Disaster being the original source. I have had both posters and they both look to have been overprinted.

Recent update from Australia Post Business....
Destinations like China, Japan, Southeast Asia and the United Kingdom are improving in terms of our delivery capability and consistency. China is also now operating under near normal servi… -
(Quote) This is one of the photos I took so I can tell you how the poster looked prior to backing. It did have the censor sticker / snipe but it left some little rippling where it had been glued to the poster. We had the sticker removed and it cam…

I spoke to a cinema owner who had regular contact with the distributors in the 60s and 70s. He said that there were many occasions when the original full colour daybills ran out due to unexpected popularity of films and they printed additional cheap…

(Quote) I wish I could ask him but he passed away some time ago. However, there is someone else I will try who might know something.

There are many more cinemas that screened Mad Max. What about the regional cinemas where it was widely shown? It was screened at a number of cinemas on the Gold Coast alone. You will have a hard time finding ads and records for those cinemas because…

(Quote) Another question to ask would be why would they limit a printing run to just 100 posters. I would have thought that it would be more economical to print a greater number of posters than 100.
I don't think anyone really knows how … -
(Quote) Well, I really don't understand why you think this is an "attack". Despise is a very strong word! I am just expressing an opinion not attacking anyone or anything and I thought expressing an opinion and an exchange of information was what t…

I also know of a number of other orange one sheets in private collections including multiples with one collector. Its important to be aware that there is no way every poster for a particular film that was printed will turn up at some time in the fut…

I highly doubt that the print run would have been restricted to 100. I have had 8 Orange one sheets over the years. Bruce has had three and others have appeared from time to time.

I think this happens when items are shipped though Fedex. They clear it through Customs themselves so you don't have control over what is being charged. If you arrange to clear it yourself you can use the correct codes for duty.

(Quote) That's weird! They did print original full colour daybills for GOSH! so I guess they must have run out.

Cant help with dating it but its a great find!

(Quote) Yes, definitely Indian and very difficult to date. I have that one in my collection.
About 25 years ago, some Indian collectibles dealers got hold of John Kisch's Almanac which had the addresses and contact details of many dealer… -
The "mystery" daybill is rare and some were clearly printed for NZ without censor details but it was also printed for the Australian release with Australian censorship.

(Quote) I think they made an error with this daybill. They left out the names of the directors, producer, writer and composer. They fixed that up in the other daybill.
-
(Quote) Have you noticed something odd about this daybill?

Pretty sure this is an only known copy. Art Deco style image by Tom Ferry....

(Quote) Those are good policies. Infighting, etc ultimately drives people away. Facebook definitely has hurt the forums but there is still great information here. Thanks to Charlie and the admins for keeping it going smoothly and to Hondo for all o…

(Quote) Well, as it happens, I do know a bit of the history there. The Hollywood was known for many years as "Jan Grefstad's Hollywood Cinema" built in 1915 and proudly boasting a Wurlitzer organ. Jan was a real character and was also proprietor of…

The hobby is more popular than ever but one of the problems with someone paying a million bucks or more for a poster is that they have no way of knowing whether others might turn up in the future. When that happens it can significantly devalue the i…

Reminds me of the Mad Max Orange one sheet!

Do you have any thoughts about when the orange daybill would have been released? -
(Quote) Yes, they are removed after about 90 days (approx) so if you find out that something you have purchased was misrepresented you cant go back and check the listing.

Man On the Eiffel Tower is impressive.

Yes, no reason to feel intimidated at all. You did ask for help and input and I think it is reasonable to ask what the seller means by saying they are printing them off templates.
