Lonely Hearts was my first film as an assistant editor. Hoyts distributed it so it's possible that between them and Adams/Packer (who were also producers of it), they might not have agreed to let Paul have that "A FILM BY PAUL COX" credit. Of course, it may have just been an oversight. I think John B. Murray and Paul would have had a hand in designing the poster. Alex Stitt did the artwork for it.
Paul had all the one sheets stored in his office in Albert Park for all his films. My First Wife, Man of Flowers, Vincent, etc. I'm pretty sure they would have been the last stash of posters that existed, his films had limited distribution so I think he looked after a lot of that. I visited him quite a while after I'd finished working with him and grabbed a bunch of posters of each film. He wouldn't sign them though! The building where he worked has recently been demolished, so I don't know what happened to the rest of the posters, probably thrown out after his death unfortunately. He was a lovely man.
Do you perchance have posters then from the bunch that you obtained from Paul for any of the nine films of his that haven't had one sheet images included here. The missing one sheets titles are as follows.
IlluminatIons Inside Looking Out (Have special poster only) Kostas (Have special poster only) The Nun And The Bandit Exile Lust And Revenge Molokai The Story Of Father Damien Innocence The Diaries Of Veslav Nijinsky
There were also numerous short films that he had made that may not have had posters produced for them, along with a number of feature length documentary films that possibly may have had posters printed for them.

I'm pretty sure I don't have those, I think it's just Man of Flowers, My First Wife and Vincent. They were the posters he had in abundance so wouldn't let me have any others, so I'd suggest the others were very small print runs for the limited distribution his films normally had.

Vincent is a documentary film that I didn't list the title of for missng Paul Coxfilm posters. If you have easy access to the poster an image of it would be great to see.
Thank you Peter, but the image provided here has me asking Is this Vincent (1987) poster Australian?, and if so where does it figure in with the Australian cinema release. Bruce has currently eighteen images of this poster appearing on his website and are all credited by him as being of U..S.A. origin. This information, along with no Australian censorship rating or a Paul Cox credit has me believing that it wasn't an Australian first release printed poster.
The poster does have a credit though of Illumination Films Melbourne Australia, appearing on the bottom, but the film was submitted to the Australian film censor by Village Roadshow. I am unable to locate any information on Lumination Films Melbourne Victoria
One of those posters that Bruce sold came from me, I'll double check the others when I get access to them (they're in storage). Paul had them at his office in Albert Park which is where I picked them up from. His production company was called Illumination Films. I thought they were from the Australian release but happy to be proved wrong.
Firstly I just altered my earlier spelling of Lumination Films to be that of the correct spelling of Illumination Films that does appear on the poster.
I have also emailed Matt at Bruce's website to query the poster's origins.
Finally where does the following unknown size film poster that has an Australian film censorship rating, along with a ""A film By Paul Cox'' credit appearing on the poster fit inro the picture one wonders?
A reply back from Matt at eMoviePoster.com that he doesn't mind me sharing it here with others follows below,
''That poster is a bit of a mystery! It doesn't have any printer info, and it is an odd size for both U.S. and Aust.one sheets, and it lacks any mention of a distributor (just the Melbourne production company). However the vast majority of these have been consigned from the U.S. So while we can't say for sure, we are guessing that they are U.S. posters.''
Something that I have picked up on is the breakup of the eighteen Vincent posters that are listed by Bruce on his website. The majority of the posters being thirteen are credited as being unfolded. There are also two on linen and one not listed ae being folded or unfolded. This leaves only two that are credited as being fully folded, with one of them I am thinking probably consigned by Peter.
With all the information now gathered, although not proven, I am wondering if the poster in questions was printed here in Australia or tor U.S.A. intended for usage in both countries.
