edited April 4 in Trivia and Games

 C1  C2 C3
Three images from what were well known comedy films in their day. Let us now see how we fare with finding the answer for them.

Comments

  • C3 is Artists and Models (1955). Martin and Lewis directed by Frank Tashlin. I think I know C1 as well but will wait for others to chip in.

    Peter
  • Could c2 be The Outlaws is Coming, a 1965 3 Stooges film?

It certainly is the film in question and well done. Dorothy Malone appearing in the following image with Jerry Lewis.

It unfortunately isn't that film. Think of much earlier films..
  • For c1.  I bought a Magnavox LaserDisc player the first morning they went on sale.  This was one of the first 3 disc's I bought with it.

Interesting, and the answer is ...
  • Animal Crackers.  Thought was to let others find it.

THE C1 answer is certainly correct. Well done, Animal Crackers from 1930. Sorry I didn't realise that this was your plan.

I viewed this film at a one night only screening in Canberra ACT in the 1970s. It wasn't screened in a conventional cinema and on 16mm. where it played to a packed enthusiastic audience.

  • A clue for the yet unanswered C2 is also a musical.
  • I have tried so many different searches that this very page is now showing up as the number one result, pointing at your image.
  • An additional clue for C2 is film biography.
  • C2 - Annie Get Your Gun (1946)?

    Peter
  • C2 - Annie Get Your Gun (1946)?
Sorry, but it isn't Annie Get Your Gun, and for the record this film is actually from 1950. Love your thinking though that you derived from the given clues.'' A final clue is the 1930s.

  • Aha! I was thinking Harold Lloyd originally but looks like it's Whoopee! (1930) - with Eddie Cantor.

Yes C2 is indeed the correct answer. so well done.

  •  C4  C5 Two new images from very well known films.
  •  A clue for the above two films in question is much later released films that those normally included here.

  • I believe c4 is Mike Tyson's lap from the first The Hangover movie.

And you are correct, as it is Mike Tyson as seen holding a dog, from the 2009 film The Hangover.

  • Ah, The Hangover! (I thought this subject was about comedies?).....each to his own I guess.

    Peter

The above poster's tagline claim was a little missleadinge then,?

Look, it made lots of money, and made a lot of people laugh...but I find a lot of modern comedy very forced.

Agree 100%, and that is why I don't watch modern American comedy films.
  • I watched the first one and didn't find it funny.  Never saw the sequels.
  • A C5 clue is not your usual chess player involved.
  • A final clue for C5 is animated television series were screened in years before and after this film was released.
  • C5. George of the Jungle from 1997

Sure is, and I had thought that the last clue would certainly assist, as it certainly did. John Cleese provided the voice of the gorilla named as being Ape.

  • It was the last clue.  Before that, I was looking at Land of the Lost.
