MAD MAX banned by argentinean censorship in 1980.
I just stumbled across an official document and looks like Mad Max was "banned for all public" by the local classification board because of points c) and f) of the law 18019/68:
These are the arguments of some of the classification board's members
Notice Argentina was still under a military dictatorship after the 1976 coup d'état. Thank god all these asshats are long gone...

c) Presentation of lascivious scenes or scenes disgusting for the morals
and good manners
f) Jeopardizing
national security, affecting relations with friendly countries or injuring the
interest of the fundamental institutions of the State
These are the arguments of some of the classification board's members
- All the film is very cruel and has inmense violence, that disgusts the morals and the good manners.
- Triumph of evil. Out-of-law justice. Destruction of institutions. Sadism. Perversity.
- Scene of extreme violence, where the star takes justice in his own hands. Law is vengeance.
- Because of its violence. Apology of violence. Because of the performance of the police. Justice by own hands
Notice Argentina was still under a military dictatorship after the 1976 coup d'état. Thank god all these asshats are long gone...

According to IMDB the film eventually obtained a release in Argentina on February 4 1982.
One wonders then what amount of censoship would have occured to allow the film to be screened there?
