Apologies  Sven's,  I missed your original...not Moulin Rouge...

Nein...think more along the lines of a local lad who goes over to the big smoke in the old US of A...right mate?

    Doris Day in Caprice...

Correct. Caprice is from 1967. Now what is the connection between Doris Day and the actress in # 39.

    =)

Little ripper got that one too!

  • #19...Rick recently picked up and shared with us the Aus One sheet for this filum...while the image comes from the US One sheet, they are pretty much identical...

28 and 34 are from good old Aussie films...these are hard so feel like I need to narrow it down for you.

For the record the legs belong to Linda Kozlowski. Great work Charlie. I was struggling with the two you answered.
  • Clues for 23 and 25 would be appreciated.
  • Image # 39 the actress is also a singer. A remake of  a 1949 film. The male co-star was also a singer as well.

Image # 22 the actress died at the age of 41.

Image # 14 the husband of the actress suffered a serious injury working on a film in 1962.

For Image # 25 posted by Ves  is it possibly the French / Italian film French Cancan from 1954?  A very small image has me thinking it could be this film but again the image may be misleading.

  • #14

Hotel Sahara (1943) - starring Mrs. Munster herself Yvonne de Carlo

That would be the very beautiful Linda Darnell.

Island of Desire aka Saturday Island (1952)

One of these - all movies from 1949 remade at a later date:

    House of Strangers (1949)
    The Window (1949)
    The Window (1949)
    The Hasty Heart (1949)
    Mighty Joe Young (1949)

    Both correct.

Sorry none of these. The film remake in question was released in 1958 with a different ( for the time ), can't say more, cast of actors appearing in a main stream Hollywood film.

Was the (original) film released in USA in 1949 or Australia?

1949 release in the U.S.A. Not sure when it was released in Australia. Both versions had some censorship problems in the early stages getting the film made regarding a family member.
  • Then I am stumped - the above list of 1949 movies are the only ones I could find that were remade later.
