This thread was only ever about separating the fact from fiction. We've all heard the stories, and with big prices being asked, it's only fair that collectors know the truth. I think there are probably equal numbers of mauve and orange posters out t…

Wish I had one, Charlie. It's a very desirable poster and will continue to go up in value. I'm sure you didn't pay anything like $5K with that sneaky MADMAX typo!
This is my NM mauve one sheet. Ves would die at the three-figure price I snapped … -
There is no way to distinguish, but I wouldn't be too quick to call the gloss daybills a re-release from '82. Moonraker, Friday 13th, Fame and many others around '79 - '80 were printed in runs of both matt and gloss paper.

As stated previously, I have now seen at least 15 different copies over the years. My friend from George St cinemas still has his. Craig has one as well. One with a big corner chip sold on ebay years ago, so definitely + 3 to above tally.

I believe the fellow who started the rumour had two orange one sheets himself.
You might call that a vested interest.

Just noticed an orange MM has emerged and been put up for sale.
Last year I found another one that has been stored away since 1979. The cinema employee took it from the George St cinemas in Sydney where he worked.
Still highly desirable, … -
The size & cheapo print job of those posters makes me suspect 16mm screenings.

Rollerball drive-in & Elephant Man come in odd sizes.

(Quote) I already have it. Just hoping JR hasn't seen one before. I know he has a herald.
I don't believe any posters have ever been seen.

My mate had to pay up big time on HA for his copy. I actually wondered at the time if Matt was the underbidder!

Ves, what about that small Blood Money db you have with Bryan Brown. Also 1sht with Rodeo horse artwork (forgotten title)? Might have been a film about surfing. I never saw those posters before.
-
Have also seen Jedda 1sht before. The artwork doesn't have anything on the impressive Colorcraft daybill that's for sure.
Lawrence, you should send McGowan an email. He loves to talk cinema and is happy to take a phone call. He did tell me some… -
Those are the posters. He buys old stock daybills and uses them for advertising in the foyer. Also collects vintage press books and stuff that relate to projection.
Likes a good chinwag! -
(Quote) I forget his name but John probably knows him. He's been around for ages in cinema trade. Think he was near Kew or that sort of area.

Watched 39 Steps on TV just recently.
Guy on NSW mid north coast has a number of Charlie Chan Aust 3 sheets. They are framed and on display in his cinema. I had pics but can't find anymore. -
