Best wishes to everyone for a safe and Happy Christmas.

(Quote) Its such a good production that you would expect it to get to the US and London sometime soon.

(Quote) There has been more than one linen backer accused of this but others can comment on that.

I have heard so many stories about bad framing over the years. The most common is that the framer glues the poster down to a backing board despite being specifically told not to. I was offered a collection last year of high end framed daybills. I as…

Would that be this one ...

(Quote) I have resisted putting watermarks on the majority of my images but I do find that people constantly lift the images off my site and post them elsewhere with no credit at all.

If you are listing on ebay you need to be careful. They are giving free listings en masse so many auctions get buried amongst the thousands of items for sale. Also, they have introduced a "promoted listing" service where sellers get more exposure ov…

Interesting!
Did you get a close look at them? What was the condition like?

Lawrence, it surely doesn't matter if one person disliked your post for whatever reason. I am certainly interested to hear what you have re Story of the Kelly Gang. There is a daybill for this film that has been misrepresented in the past so I hope …

Actually, I wouldn't bid against a friend. I hoped Ric would get the lot.

(Quote) It would most certainly have been appropriate for Moth of Moonbi to go to Ric, but, sadly, that didn't happen.

I have had quite a lot of posters with labels on the back with addresses of cinemas and also stamps which indicate that they might have just been used to make a crude parcel of posters and sent out without even putting them in a box - sacrilege!
-
Thats a rare poster Mark! There is a product called Orange Power Sticky Spot and Goo Dissolver that might work but you have to be very careful when using it.

(Quote) I would guess it would be most likely to be the artist's whim. Has anyone been able to confirm whether they might have had another office in Melbourne as well as Sydney?

Both printed by W.F.Schey. The one on the right has the added detail W.F.Schey poster Coy. Pty Ltd Sydney but not sure if that has any significance.

The horse might have bolted on that one!

Lawrence is saying that the four star logo on daybills only occurred during the period 1939 - 41. He says that "in Australia in early 1941, the year during which RKO Australia officially dropped the **** from their daybill logo adver… -

No, buyer is from NSW.

(Quote) This daybill might affect the theory that four star daybills were only printed from 1939 - 41. This is a four star logo on a daybill printed around 1945 possibly even later .....

Here's another one …I sold a poster yesterday that was described as Original Daybill Movie poster in the title and description
I sent it yesterday. The buyer was notified that it had been sent.
(Quote) That's a great one Matt.
(Quote) Good commentary Charlie.
Despite the many collections that are coming on to the market there seem to be more collectors than ever surfacing. The thing that concerns long time collectors is that the values are being affected by the flo…I have been offered quite a few collections this year. In fact, I am getting more emails than ever from people wanting to sell either some or all of their collections. I have a couple of friends who have absolutely massive collections and they are g…I couldn't find an image of One Body Too Many on this thread so here it is ….

A couple of weeks ago, a collector asked me about the differences between the W.E.Smith and the Robert Burton daybills. I published an article a week ago on my website with my opinions here ....

You could probably also start a thread for Richardson Studio daybills that were badly trimmed at the time of printing. There are many examples and some people often make the mistake of thinking that the were trimmed at a later date. I don't think th…
