(Quote) Yes, I have "X" rated and "R" rated lobby cards.

(Quote) I do have an Australian press sheet somewhere. From memory, it doesn't show pictures of the daybill. I will try and find it and post an image.
-
(Quote) It does looks as though the Kinney Company references are a red herring/error that has carried through to other posters. The question now is when was the yellow daybill released?
-
It the yellow style is a re release, it would most likely be around 1976.
-
Well, the poster is clearly not from the 1988 release and I doubt it would be from 1980. The 1978 screening doesn't look like an official re release and not sure if posters would have been printed for that. Another thing to take into account is that…

Here is a better image.

(Quote) Yes, it might be possible to find that review on Trove.

(Quote) The fact that the original US Insert has the reference to the Kinney Company plus the image of the girl within the triangle would actually support the theory that the yellow style daybill is first release.
However, the M.A.P.S … -

So, the Yellow style is the true first release daybill.
-
I think the reference to Warner Brothers as a "Kinney Company" indicates that the yellow version is original so maybe the white one with Warner Communications might be a slightly later printing for the original release.

Here is the one with censor details ...

(Quote) There are at least six different styles. The more commonly seen style is this one

There are plenty of examples of Australian posters where some have printers details and some don't.

The second issue with the images in the Press Book is the depiction of the one sheet. It looks like there is an error in stating that the image on the left is a 3 sheet and the image on the right is a one sheet. That couldn't possibly be correct as …

I have just picked up a collection of posters and included amongst them were some rare Press Books including a Gone With the Wind Australian Press book. The images from the Theodore Bruce Press Book were not very clear and it was impossible to read …

I will have some new information about the GWTW Aust one sheets soon.

Excellent research Lawrence
-
According to the Production Code C.O.L 1 the movie is Counsel for Crime (1937). If that is correct the actress is Julie Bishop. Maybe the first image was too sexy and they used the second image?
-
(Quote) I agree with Lawrence that the Bill Collins/Theodore Bruce one sheet must surely be an original 1940 first release. The question remains why Theodore Bruce referred to it as a 1942 re release.
I think it is also possible/likely … -
(Quote) So just to clarify the one sheet with the text only is a second printing. I would definitely agree with that. What exactly are you calling the Bill Collins one sheet?
-
(Quote) Yes. I wonder what led them to describe it as a 1942 release.
-
(Quote) It is almost certainly Hackett. From memory, I think David may have had the poster so he might be able to confirm it but why not let us know what your thinking is based on it being Hackett.
-
The reference to the Roxy Theatre seems to have been associated with the original daybills that have appeared.
-
It looks like Hackett but cant be sure
-
(Quote) I have always thought that it is very hard to believe that this would be the true first release Australian one sheet for GWTW.
-
That's a rare one!
-
(Quote) They certainly do exist unlaminated but are very scarce indeed.

Sorry to hear this Bruce. Must be a nightmare for you but hopefully everyone will understand that these things happen.
