American International Pictures was formed in the U.S.A. in April, 1954 as American Releasing Corporation but within a short amount of time had a name change to American International Pictures. A surprising amount of the films released under the two names from 1954 to 1969 were not released in Australia, Some were banned from exhibition here but a lot appears were not picked up for distribution in Australia from a variety of distributors.. Film distributors that handled the 1950s & 1960s output in Australia included Ray Films, IFD, MGM, Columbia, Blake, Paramount & Roadshow. Some of the 1960s titles that were banned were finally released in the late 1960s with the majority in the early 1970s.

As I like to collect horror and exploitation titles, I find that many of the posters have either Regent, Blake of N.S Productions as their distributor. I've learned a little about Nathan Scheinwald but was wondering if anyone had knowledge about the other two distributors?

Thanks!

I am planning on doing a bunch of US posters here in a day or two and maybe I'll grab logos as I go.

I know the majority of others that have commented on which of many The Guns Of Navarone daybills came first disagree. The other daybills that are logo free in my opinion only would be from a late 1960s re-release. I am aware of the censorship classification argument but I think the logo wins out over the rating classification.

Note the billing of ''and introducing the Yugoslavian Bombshell Tania Velia''. Played at some cinemas as a support to Amazons Of Rome in Australia, A highly entertaining must for all bad movie fans. Bruce Bennett played Tarzan in the 1930s under the name of Herman Brix and in The Treasure of The Sierra Madre as Bruce Bennett and Robert Bray played Mike Hammer in a 1950s film as well a srarrings in the Lassie television series ( 1964-1968 ).

This is the first of some films you may probably have never heard of but may be of interest to people who like obscure entertaining bad movies.
