So I am taking a break from the Noir, as I was recently gifted a lovely boxset of early Hitchcock:
I am embarking on my journey of early Hitchcock.
Last night I started with The Ring and The Farmers Wife.
I adored The Ring, so wonderful and you can see the beginning of the nuances that make Hitchcock so great.
Can see myself revisiting this one a fair bit.
Then The Farmers Wife...so not Hitchcock in any way.
I understand as the studio director he was obliged to direct this one...a comedy no less.
Delightful film and I enjoyed the performances of all, but not at all what I was expecting so found it a bit weird if I am honest.
Still some wonderful moments.
Tonight, if real life doesnt get in the way, we give Champagne and The Manxman a go!

Firstly there was an original Australian daybill printed in 1950 by W.E. Smith featuring the artwork of poster artist Aub Mosely and this information is confirmed in a newspaper article from the early 1950s.. This daybill would have had an Eagle Lion credit as well as BEF appearing on the poster as seen below on the newspaper adverting blocks images.

Three BEF Australian daybill images follow below from around the same period of time showing the Released in Australia by Eagle Lion. Distributed by B.E.F. credit printed on the posters.
On saying all this the following daybill is missing an Eagle Lion credit, and has a different printer F. Cunninghame appearing on it. This poster is a second printing from sometime later on in the 1950s.
The missing Bitter Springs original W.E,Smith daybill is only one of countless missing daybills that one would hope will surface and be sighted one day in the future.
