What is wrong with our hobby???!
I have been reading a bunch of comics during the pandemic and got an itch to look at what an x-men no 1 might cost. Well the highest graded copies are close to $100k and the lowest are going for around $1000 (missing pages!)
There are currently 5000+ graded copies... This book is from 1963!

What is wrong with our hobby??? You would think the greatest movies ever with low population posters would match these.

I mean I know we argue the rarity of say Mad Max but even if there are 300 copies out there - that is a drop in the bucket compared to comics. AND the new flock to these art prints (I’m guilt of buying them..)
Wonder if it’s lack of availability in mass quantities make it commercially unattractive. Basically, you can only buy what you see.
I’m stumped. Sports cards too! Mike Trout RC from 2011 sell for $3-4K... They made 20,000 of them...

And, now, As I promised last week, I made a simple Windows Program in my spare time so I can check the change in prices. I have only a few movies in the list, but is a start

Now I can see some things more clearly. like "fine" posters sometimes only appear at first, maybe they are not so "fine" later on or maybe don't appear in the website again. Cheers !

One other fact is that the distributor Anchor Film Distributors, Incorporated were only active between circa 1922 and circa 1929.

Beautiful looking lobby card, and in very nice condition considering its age. The film ran only 60 minutes which was common in the silent days. Super rare, and on searching I am unable to locate any other original poster material for this film. Thanks for sharing.

A big change at eMoviePoster.com! Our auction that runs from August 16th to September 3rd will be our very last "every four week" auction!
THEY WILL BE REPLACED (9 days later) WITH OUR NEW "MONTHLY" AUCTIONS!
This is not a giant change (12 sets of auctions a year compared to the old 13), but it WILL take some "getting used to"!
OUR AUCTIONS EVERY MONTH (starting in September) WILL ALWAYS END ON THE VERY FIRST TUESDAY OF THAT MONTH (with the other two sets of auctions ending the Thursday and Sunday directly afterwards).
This results in 4 times a year of there being NO auctions at all for 9 days (compared to the current 2 days, which still happens the other months).
To make it easy to see how this works, we have updated our Auction calendar (at the left of our Home Page) to reflect these changes.
And you'll notice that we added all the dates for 2027. I am committing to next year, but with the likelihood that starting 1/1/2027 we will raise our minimum value to $100 (from the current $50).
Having 9 days off 4 times a year may SEEM like "no big deal" but if you are an avid collector you can schedule vacations during those times, and not worry about missing ANY auctions!

It’s a pleasure to meet you. Thank you very much for your thorough assessment — especially since it aligns with my own. 🙂
I will contact Heritage and share my findings with them. I would appreciate it if they would amend the listing, as it is currently “officially” described as a 1971 release… I’m not quite sure how they arrived at 1971 despite the 1974 stamp.
I’ll keep you updated. In the end, this is quite significant when it comes to properly assessing the value of a poster.
Re: How do you store your posters?
Yes, when you run out of mylar sleeves divide the posters you have left by the number of members here and send to each.
