Re: Questions for Bruce-EMP
There is an old stock market expression, when people ask "Why did the stock market rise a lot today?". Some people launch into explanations about various kinds of good news that came out that caused the rise, but a more precise answer is "There were more buyers than sellers that day".
Similarly, I think you can look too deeply for answers as to why posters for the Carry On... films sell for what they do, when actually it is more a case of there being two (or three or four) people who value them that highly.
A similar situation exists with posters and lobby cards from Columbia comedy shorts of the 1930s and 1940s. The vast majority of them sell for very little, even though they are incredibly rare. But those from the Three Stooges shorts sell for fortunes. Are the Stooges THAT much better than their fellow comedians, or is it just that the top Stooge collectors have far more spendable money?
Or look at Star Wars vs Star Trek. Star Wars posters go for giant money, Star Trek almost nothing. Is Star Wars vastly superior to Star Trek, or is it just the relative disposable income of their fans?
Sometimes one or two giant collectors in an area can make it seem like something is far more "collectible" than it actually is.

Actually, looks like it's the Fourth Printing.
Isn't mine a 4th print? It makes no mention of "one sheet - Style A"

Shipping costs have SO hurt parts of this hobby.theartofmovieposters said:
I am loathe to throw out anything either, but sometime even after offering it up for free with no takers, you really have no alternative. Shipping costs out of Australia are just ridiculous which puts off alot of collectors.
It is simple math. There are many posters I used to sell to Europeans for $5 or $10. In 2000, shipping was $14, and if they bundled five posters into one package, they might pay $35 plus $14, or $49 for all 5, which was not so bad.
NOW, shipping for the very same package is often $45, so that same package is $81. People see that and quit bidding on those posters, and it is ENTIRELY the fault of shipping.
It is much worse for things like linenbacked French one-panels. The shipping has skyrocketed, due to adding the dimensions of the tube to the weight. Again, the shipping is ENTIRELY what is depressing the prices.
And sadly, it looks like shipping is only going to keep rising.

Re: Questions for Bruce-EMP
For me a major issue is that I don’t trust the alleged limited print run #s.
Since these were created as commercial items and artificially made “scarce†(allegedly) from the beginning there just seems to be too many opportunities for an endless supply to actually exist - now that the “scarcity†is accepted amongst collectors who chase such things.
Maybe I am just being pessimistic but to me any product that is created with this end goal in mind just lends itself to corruption and manipulation (especially with the serious $ being thrown around in Bruce’s auction!)

I think this is the original release?

The store most likely being being Stars Rock And Movie posters at 188 Parramatta Road, Stanmore. Keith Hutchinson being the proprietor and there were at leasr three other locations Stars operated at over many years. It was a pleasure to visit the stores. Does anyone know what Keith is doing these days?
Eros Films reissued a lot of Universal horror films in the 1950s and early 1960s in the U.K.
